- Compared to common wood sawdust, sunflower husks have a lower lignin content, resulting in weaker binding properties. Therefore, the forming die design for the briquette machine differs from that of a sawdust briquetting machine. However, it still could meet no adhesive when briquetting; high density can be achieved by modifying the forming die.
- The maximum recommended diameter for sunflower husks briquettes is 70 mm. Larger forming dies will cause excessive machine pressure and lower output.
- If you have a lower capacity request when using sunflower seed husks as raw material, we recommend you using a flat die type sunflower husks pellet mill, and do not recommend using a screw extrusion briquetting machine because it is unstable and requires a high level of operator experience.

2. Is pretreatment of sunflower husk necessary when making briquettes?
Generally, no pretreatment is needed. The raw material size and moisture content are suitable for direct using by briquette press.

Our testing shows that no adhesive is needed. However, the compression ratio and length of the die need to be customized. The compression ratios commonly used for sawdust are not suitable for sunflower shells.
